Isn't the phrase "Tilting at Windmills" a wonderful and mellifluous sounding string of words? If one is not familiar, the phrase, according to Wikipedia is "an English idiom which means attacking imaginary enemies, or fighting unwinnable or futile battles." For my purpose the phrase means both of the idiomatic uses. Let's explore. I read a fellow CP's article. The author used a title that spoke to an historical event that united all of Humanity, except probably the Communist nations, and in my reading and assessing the author's work I realized the author was indeed tilting at windmills. The author discussed the technological achievement of putting a man on the moon and then began his tilting at windmills with his ad hominem portrayal of Conservatism being the reason we could build weapons and go to the Moon, but since Conservatives are all haters and stuck in the past, that's is why we have not achieved all the other "liberal/progressive" agenda thus far. What a load! One of his arguments was that we could build a liberty ship in WWII in 3 days, yet why does that same technology not build windmills and other green stuff. Straw man folks. See, the US could build a bazillion windmills per day, and if the damned things worked we would, but . . . . Teddy Kennedy prevented a wind farm from bring built on Cape Cod because it would ruin his view. As well, since windmills need wind, when there is none, they are worthless at that moment, and do not generate and store enough energy to "replace" any traditional energy source, so windmills would be a addenda, not a substitute, therefore to argue windmills will fix anything is indeed the tilting at windmills. Attacking Conservatism for his usual litany of drivel is more of the same. The attacking of an imaginary enemy. He claims Conservatives only care about profit. I do not agree, but let's hoist him on his own petard here folks. Let's say he's right - that my peeps only care about profit - again, ONLY for the sake of this argument will I acquiesce to his nonsensical premise. Follow closely - If wind energy were PROFITABLE, we would be on it! Conservatives are all profit motivated according to the CP in question, so if we were what he claims, if there were any profit in wind energy we would push for it, right? The cost of alternate and cleaner energies are way out of balance with the costs of traditional energy generation, thus windmills are too expensive for the amount of electricity generated. As well, this is what Cap and Trade nonsense is all about. They are doing their best to RAISE energy costs to the point that wind and solar power will become cost effective. For example, let's say it costs $1,000,000.00 to build a windmill that will provide all the energy for 10 houses. What happens to wind energy profitability if it only costs $100,000.00 to have a clean coal plant provide the same energy as the windmill does? The only way to reconcile this is to MANDATE windmills or drive the cost of traditional energy up until it is as cost inefficient as are the wind mills. Get it? The lefties have no concern whatsoever as to how much the nation is hurt by astronomical energy prices, so long as their MEANS, the mandating or controlling of how we accomplish what they want, is met. This ain't about energy folks, it is about control. Another example: scientists now agree the Earth has been cooling since 1999 (as Conservatives have maintained all along), and will continue to cool 'til at least 2020, yet the Lefties still scream about controlling global warming, now called climate change. Cap and Trade is about control, but they claim it's about cooling the Earth. Which Earth? The one that is already cooling? That Earth? Poppycock folks! If the Earth is cooling now, and it is, then why are they still screaming for Cap and Trade? It will cost this nation alone TRILLIONS of dollars, and they know it too! But they want CONTROL over energy. If they control energy they control the nation, no doubt. Can you folks see this? Is is not that hard a concept to grasp, and no there is no paranoia involved at all. Sherlock Holmes said, in effect, "When you have eliminated the impossible, what remains, no matter how improbable, has to be the fact!" (paraphrased) So apply Holmes' theory to this issue. If the Earth is cooling, why all the Cap and Trade crap? If atomic power is clean, cheap and renewable, and it is, then why scream for the inefficiency of wind, solar and water power that will drive all energy through the roof? As Sherlock would have said, "Methinks the game is afoot, Watson!" I have reached the undeniable conclusion that the liberal/progressive mind is not at all about the ends, but totally about the means. The ends of atomic power answers the issue, but THEY DISLIKE THE MEANS! Controlling the means of production, regardless of the less than stellar ends. Conservatives working toward new social realities are our means to reach an achievable and doable end, but they ain't having none of that. We do what they want, how they want and on their schedule or we are obstruction haters with no regard for our fellows. Bullshit! If green stuff were remotely profitable Conservatives would be all over it, but there is a rub as I alluded to earlier. The rub is that we have sufficient energy generating tools in place, but Progressives don't like traditional sources of energy generation. But the Progressive MEANS are totally ineffective, therefore the ENDS are not reached! Windmills would kill millions of birds per year, so how does the green wing of the nutzoids reconcile with the energy Nazi wing of the nutballs? Do what one faction wants and that defeats the other faction's desires. See my point? Green energy generation may someday be sufficient to power the planet, but not anytime soon. We will need traditional energy generation methods for the rest of this century, so their green ideas would turn out to be exceptionally expensive and still not do the job the wacky kids claim it will. To wind this up, I harped on energy, but the reality is the leftmost folks are always tilting at windmills. Some paint Conservatism as some evil force for greed and self-aggrandizement. They make this straw man argument because they have to find some enemy to blame. They can't admit that they want a pipe dream, so to hide their own shortcomings they demonize the older and historically effective manners of all things, and argue only the new things they advocate are acceptable. They are seemingly unable to man up and admit that much of what they want, the means they claim will achieve the ends they falsely argue will result, just isn't going to happen yet. But to placate their immature little thought processes, they blame Conservatism for all their failures, when the failures really lie at their feet. The failures of Progressivism are because Man is incapable of doing what they want the way they want it done. Again, as proof, if the CLEAN ENERGY were the real goal, why not let us build atomic power plants? But since that is not an acceptable Means to them, they will delay the achievement of the alleged desired END because they want what they want. They want what they want, all done their way, on their schedule. Even if what they want will not serve the desired end they will still forward their means as the only possible solution. See, it really is the MEANS and not the ENDS that they are so concerned with. If I am wrong, let them prove it. So far all this nonsense since the Pelosi Congress and the Obamanation is totally and entirely about the manner of doing business and not really the achievements those manners of doing it will achieve. Regardless of their rhetoric, their words ring hollow when compared to their actions. Controlling the language is their means. Controlling the workings of government and business are their means. Controlling the flow of money and the generation of it are their means. And how the money is dispersed are their means. Their ends are simple. To have all the decision making, governmental authorities, and money at their total and absolute discretion, with little to no input from my peeps, and certainly no control of my peeps over any of it, thus they run the whole shebang in perpetuity. Like I said, once they do actually control the money, and I mean all of it, public and private, they have guaranteed political supremacy in perpetuity. When a Conservative stands up and campaigns on smaller government, is there any chance in Hell the then tens of millions who need government for everything will ever vote to end the freebies? It's that "monkey's flying outta my ass" thing again folks. Bank on it! |
